Dido Hoare,
antiquarian bookseller is in trouble again. It begins when a good
customer of hers leaves a rubber cheque for a £200 pound book.
Things are not improved when he is reported dead, and his collection
of valuable books has disappeared. Dido is employed by the solicitor
to find out where the books have gone, but whilst searching the
apartment, she comes across the book which he had bought last on the
bad cheque. So she tries to leave the case behind. But somehow she
is not allowed to leave things alone. Someone drops £200 cash
through her door. Then the solicitor tries to engage her again.
Things become even more complicated with a drugs connection, a
journalist, and a very elusive sister of the dead man All is
resolved satisfactorily, but not before some very neat twists. Fans
of Dido Hoare will love it. |
