HOOT

Carl Hiaason

I was asked to read 'Hoot' by my Dad who thought I would enjoy reading it. Dad had read books for adults by Carl Hiaason and had enjoyed them saying that they were funny. He recommended that I read it, because it is Carl Hiaason's first book for Children. He was right. I did enjoy it very much and the reason I liked it so much was because it was different to any other book I had ever read. It was about a boy named Roy who moved to Florida from Montana. On his first day on the school bus he spots a boy running at a 100 miles per hour, and his hair is straw blonde and wirey with a nut-brown tan. He does not wear shoes which is weird. But I won't spoil it for you. The book is quite funny in parts and is sort of like an adventure story where they try and save the owls from Mother Paula's Pancake Company. I would give it 8/10 points because I didn't quite understand what was happening in the middle, otherwise I would have given it 9/10.
