Beautiful, vulnerable and flawed Amanda Delany, film star and darling of the tabloids has never shied away from publicity - more often than not encouraging it, even arranging it. When Amanda is is found dead in her new Belgravia mews flat DI Anna Travis has more than a few suspects and as many motives for her murder.

Is her murder the result of jealousy - she had a string of well publicised affairs with her leading actors - or does it have something to do with the fact that she had agreed a deal for a no holds barred autobiography, with all the implications that might have for those who know her? There is also the possibility that either a diary or first draft exist, but the police must find it before the murderer.

DI Travis also has to work with DCI James Langton, her former boss and lover, who has been put in charge of the investigation. She has to come to terms with her feelings for him, focus on the Delany murder and also face a selection panel for promotion to Detective Chief Inspector. Her inability to work as a team player or keep everyone informed of her whereabouts and lines of inquiry infuriates the rest of the team (and this reader).

A fast and intense plot and in keeping with the author's theatre and screen writing background it provides a very visual experience. The fifth DI Travis/DCI Langton novel.
