Bad Blod

Review written by Karen Boyle

Karen spent 30+ years as a Civil Servant, mostly in Revenue which is where she developed my absolute hatred of poor writing skills! Her favourite genre is now crime/thriller/police procedural/legal genre with the occasional foray into chick-lit and general fiction.

James Cobb a New York Psychologist who specialises in recovering lost memories (using hypnosis) is approached by a dying man for help.

The psychologist is asked to help him uncover the truth about what actually happened, on one specific night, forty years ago. But before the task is completed, the man dies; however, the psychologist is intrigued, and sets out to uncover the truth.

This well written narrative flows smoothly, the characters are well-drawn and totally engaging. It immerses the reader with its story, and the intrigue continues with the psychologist.

As an insight into human memory and behaviour, it was fascinating while the “crime” story itself was robustly plotted.

Recommended to readers wishing something totally different from their psychological thrillers.
