Now, here’s a debut worth checking out. A lone woman in an SUV on a deserted highway in the rain, near Santa Cruz, CA, sees another woman being attacked. She dials 911. “Stay in the car,” says the dispatcher. Of course, she doesn’t. It wouldn’t be a story if she did. But you know it’s not going to end well, and of course it doesn’t.

Cassie Larkin is a veterinarian, married, two kids. Her husband a teacher. Straight as a die. But her rescue of the woman is not the end of the matter. Just the opposite, because the attacker steals her car, her keys and her personal information in her handbag.

Then, the following night, Halloween, whilst out trick or treating with their daughter, her husband vanishes.

And then things go from bad to worse. As Cassie begins to search for her husband, her straight life begins to unravel, as secrets and lies mount up. But as she tries to escape the web of evil, the strings grow tighter and threaten to strangle her. Everyone close is in danger, her family, friends, and even strangers who help, but why? There’s shock after shock before the savage ending.

Just remember, no good deed goes unpunished and No Bad Deed is a damn good read.
