London Book Launch Party for RESTLESS COFFINS

Written by Mike Stotter

‘I knew what it was like to live inside my own black skin and realised that my colour dictated how most white folk treated me.’ - J T Ellington

29 Jan 2018: Blackwells Bookshop in Holborn was the setting for the London launch of the third instalment in the J T Ellington series written by M.P. (Mark) Wright. A series that has garnered favourable quotes including one from Dermot O'Leary: ‘Page turning historical detective fiction at its finest, picks you up and puts you right in 60's Britain, and its underbelly, and a new genre to boot, say hello to 'Barbadian/Bristolian noir.’

Mark led off the proceedings with a quick few words and then handed over to actor Ben Onwukwe, who also happens to be the narrator for the audio books. Ben (and yes, we did remember you from London’s Burning) then read the prologue. He held the audience in the palm of his hand as he brought the words to life with his interpretation. I had read the book but for me, it certainly gave a whole different perspective to the words as I listened to the Barbadan rhythms come to life.

The author closed with a few words of thanks to his readers, publishers, family, media supporters and, of course, to Ben.  Below are just a few of the photos from the evening.

Fancy taking a walk on the dark side with Ellington? Mark has written a great feature for us here.
